TOPIC: Should the government make public transport free in order to reduce the polluting effect caused by individuals travelling by cars?
As you known, environmental problem is one of the most important problems at present, and it's considered an international problem which is every country have to involve. And one of the most causes is transportation. So what if the government makes the transportation free?
Let's begin with the positive effect. The first thing you will think of is reduce the number of cars, yes, there are 8 billion people in the world, and try to imagine if, in some way, in the future there will be no more poor people, and each people have a car! How can we handle with these wheels and how many gases and dust it will produce! Fortunately, there are just surpass 1 billion cars in the world in 2016. But nothing is impossible. So, if the government makes transportation free, it will reduce a huge amount of private car. It would save the planet from global warming and save money because more people would be using the same car instead of their own car. Normally it costs almost $10 for a one way trip across town and for many people this could pay for dinner. On top of this it would reduce traffic jam on the road.
But everything has its bad side. First, it might be too crowded. Let's imagine this is the first day of free transportation and you wake up at 6:00 am, then brush teeth, wash your face and then you go to work or school. Your school starts at 8 am. And now just 6:30 am. You're happily walking on the road to the bus station, and you realize there are another people also walking to the bus station. And you run fast to the station. Another time you disappoint when you see a long line to get in the bus. When it's your turn, the taxi driver says: "I am sorry, it's full, we can admit no more". And you wait for the next time. When you arrive the school, you realize that it's 8:15 am...
Second thing: Money. This topic rather "Money uses" because when the transportation is free, who will pay for gases, cars, trains, repair money, etc. Of course the government. But the point is there are much more thing to care about like famine, environmental disaster, facilities, etc. than free transportation.
Finally, my opinion is: I don't care about it. I'm just a student, my father take me to school, my father take me back home, my father bring me on vacation, etc. I'm haven't ever get in bus alone. I'm not a government so what do it affect to me when it's free or not free? I don't really know!
